Mr Pankaj Mohindroo is the founder and National President of the Indian Cellular Association (ICA).
Sensing the need for a specialized body to serve the emerging mobile industry in India, Mr Mohindroo founded ICA in 2002 as a knowledge-driven, policy advocacy platform which will work in close cooperation with various stakeholders and would serve as the bridge between the government and the industry while undertaking pioneering, innovative and futuristic initiatives and research to facilitate creation of a vibrant mobile business and policy eco-system in India.

Mr Mohindroo’s pioneering work contributed immensely to make India one of the largest and most vibrant mobile markets in the world. Today, Mr Mohindroo is the lead voice for mobile industry and is recognized globally for his transformational vision and creative dynamism.
Recognizing his ability to undertake challenges and achieve goals even under most arduous and inimical circumstances, Government of India recently appointed him as the Chairman of the ‘Task Force on Mobile Phone Manufacturing’ to rejuvenate India’s mobile manufacturing eco-system with a view to achieve production of 500 million units of mobile handsets by 2019.
Mr Mohindroo has long list of contributions. He has been a moving force behind the successful establishment of Telecom Sector Skill Council (TSSC), a body which has been created under the auspices of National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and the coming together of ICA, Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) and the Telecom Centres of Excellence (TCOE). The body has been established as part of the visionary objectives of the Prime Minister of India with a mandate to train over 5 million people from the telecom industry over the next 10 years, which is expected to act as a major catalyst for the overall growth and sustenance of the industry. Presently, Mr Mohindroo serves as the Secretary of the Governing council of TSSC.
Mr. Mohindroo has been playing a pivotal role by working in close co-ordination with the Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY), Government of India, various state Governments and Industry stakeholders to help establish the Electronic System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) industry in the country.
Mr Mohindroo is also the convener of the Committee on Smart Phones, Tablets and Mobile Phones for BPL families, which has been constituted under the Core Advisory Group for Research and Development in the Electronics Hardware (CAREL). CAREL is the empowered group which functions under the auspices of the office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India, which is mandated for promoting high-end scientific research in the country and to lay foundation of India designed, developed and manufactured electronic products.
Mr. Mohindroo also served as the Chairman of the Manufacturing Advisory Committee Stage-I in 2004-06, which was instrumental in catalyzing the establishment of a robust mobile phone manufacturing eco system in the country.
He again served as the Chairman of the Manufacturing Advisory Committee Stage-II which has been established in 2010 with the objective of taking the Indian Mobile Phone, Design and Component manufacturing industry to the next level.
As the National President of ICA, he has affected a strong crack down on the grey market and facilitated various regulatory and legislative changes with a far-reaching impact on the industry.
Apart from nurturing and fostering ICA, Mr Mohindroo has varied interests. He is a successful entrepreneur with business interests in Telecom, Information Technology, Publishing, Strategy Consulting etc.

He is Chairman of My Mobile Infomedia Pvt. Ltd, which publishes mobile sector’s number one print and online magazine titled ‘My Mobile’. In the past he has held top positions with reputed and large corporate groups including:

Academically outstanding, Mr Mohindroo is a Master of Business Administration from the Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi and has twice been a University topper.
